Next up on Analytic Records is the ‘Be Yourself’ EP from Audio Analysts, featuring Ellie Lavery on vocals with two huge remixes from John Tejada and Carlo Gambino.
The topic of this project and the words used to convey the message by Ellie are flawless. An Irish actress, Arts & Drama student training at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, she speaks on “losing sight of who she was, what was important and trying to change her character” only to find the best thing she could do was be herself.
Long-standing pioneer John Tejada has been turning heads since 1994 with releases on Kompakt, Pokerflat, Defected Records and Cocoon, to name a few. A true artist who is well seasoned having travelled to more than 30 countries DJing and performing live at clubs/festivals including Berghain, fabric, Rex Club, Womb, Dekmantel, Decibel & Movement.
John’s remix is a driving, gritty, bassline that gets the head nodding and the use of swing on the hi-end percussion really creates a solid groove. The real cherry on top, however, comes when the synth hits around the 1:30 mark, its clever movement through a range of different LFOs makes it pulsate through your body and cut through in the mix in all the right ways.
To round off the EP is the Carlo Gambino (Mr Midnight Social Recordings) remix. Carlo has been in the game since the ’90s and has played at many of the world’s best-loved dance floors including; Sankeys (Manchester), Space (Ibiza), SASH (Sydney) & Decadence (Paris).
Here he takes the more intricate and Housey approach drawing attention to each small detail. A lot of movement in the sub-bass ensures that this will have hips swaying whilst feet are tapping in the club or on the terrace at a daytime party. The smooth pads are also a real compliment to Ellie’s vocals.
You can buy/stream the release HERE, with a vinyl release due in the coming months.
