Carl Cox has been announced as the headline act at the opening night of the new Space nightclub in Riccione, Italy – the latest venture from the team behind Space Ibiza.

Cox will play both a day time and night time set at Space Riccione on Sunday 2 June, close to eight years on from the epic nine-hour marathon set he performed at the closing party of Space in Ibiza.

Described as a ‘multifunctional, club-come-festival venue’, Space Riccione is composed of three large areas – Arena, Garden and Terrace, and is based in an Italian resort famous for its hedonistic spirit.

“We are happy to continue 27 years of Space Ibiza history here in Riccione, an iconic place that represents entertainment”, commented Pepe Rosello, owner of the Space brand.

Cox’s legacy is deeply intertwined with Ibiza, particularly through his longstanding residency at Space, which concluded in 2016 after an incredible 15-year run. Since 2001, he played a pivotal role in shaping Space into one of the world’s premier clubs. His curated lineups, balancing emerging talent with established names, ensured that his nights remained at the forefront of Ibiza clubbing, solidifying his residency as one of the island’s most successful in history.

Initially starting with just six nights in 2001, Cox’s residency expanded and evolved alongside the club itself. As Space prepared to close its doors, it felt fitting for Cox to conclude his residency. His final season, spanning 15 weeks, was his largest yet, with every night selling out.

Commenting on Space’s latest chapter, Fabrizio De Meis, COO of Space Riccione, said, “The new era of Space will be a beautiful and unique experience. We’re excited to reveal our vision of a state of the art, club-meets-festival venue.”
