Decentralized audio streaming platform Tamago has launched the alpha version of its groundbreaking product. Led by early NFT adopter, electronic music producer and multiple Udemy blockchain bestseller Clarian, Tamago aims to open up direct and transparent revenue models through a mix of Web3 and NFT technology. The platform has partnered with NEAR Protocol as the blockchain’s official music streaming solution which is closely backed by the Human Guild.
Users can stream a range of decentrally hosted music from underground dance music artists true to the independent ethos on which the platform was built. These alpha artist backers include Turbo Records founder Tiga, Detroit’s global after-hours powerhouse crew Visionquest, music from Tamago co-founder Clarian and RUMORS icon Guy Gerber, plus scene legends Michael Mayer and Guy J.
The platform takes a non-invasive approach to content creator markets similar to OpenSea and Patreon, leaving curation to artists and fan led playlists, P2P engagement and customization of NFT sales and exclusive content, zero-ads, and dedicated liquidity support pools giving 100% of revenue back to artists. Unlike competing Web3 audio platforms which use centralized side-chain systems to host content, Tamago offers a tried and trusted scalable decentralized IPFS based solution so artists always retain ownership of their music and users retain their data and privacy. It’s like BitTorrent meets Soundcloud for the next generation of artistic accountability.
In Tamago co-founder, Clarian’s own words, “We are thrilled to partner with NEAR on our shared vision to harness the power of Web3 and NFT tech to shake up mainstream airwaves. As an artist and music fan, I have always known there is a better solution out there for audio streaming defined by transparency and user experience instead of corporate greed. Tamago thrives on free-market monetization, aiming to put revenue back in the pockets of creators instead of massive companies like Spotify. We are a platform by and for artists and their fans.”
Starting with a full beta version set to launch in March, artists will be able to mint any track they upload as an NFT instantly, giving users the chance to make an offer, buy the track for their own collectors ‘record box’ using their integrated NEAR wallet and split royalties on the music based on percentages set by the artist. This version will also see a premium subscription model roll out where fans can gain access to exclusive music, unreleased cuts and behind the scenes content from their favourite artists for a fee. Overall this transparent functionality offers a much more transparent and traceable model for sharing and streaming music.
In April Tamago will launch the $TAMA token alongside the Beta version of the platform, giving all fans of anti-corporate music hosting a chance to own a piece of the platform and power the next revolution in audio streaming.
NEAR’s low gas fees and high-speed transaction capabilities make it the ideal blockchain for apps like Tamago to scale at rapid rates and stream at high speeds. Tamago’s co-founder and Jeff Gold, also the co-founder of the NearHub Metaverse, has been working closely alongside Clarian and have already deployed the metaverse solution Tama Island, a virtual version of Tamago, which hosts weekly live streams and events from artists around the world, NFT treasure hunts and proof of attendance and much more. With future versions of the platform, users will be able to trade, buy and sell their tracks and NFTs on the Tamago app as well as on Tama Island in 3D, host virtual record fairs on TAMA Island, stream exclusive performances, and engage in social community events with interoperable social features.
Tamago co-founder Clarian North remains a pivotal thought leader in the Web3 and NFT music space. Clarian is known in the crypto community as the first artist to ever mint an NFT album, Whale Shark LP, beating out Kings of Leon on OpenSea, on March 3rd at Midnight. He has since gone on to have 80,000 developers enrolled in his blockchain courses from building an NFT marketplace on Polygon to the complete Solidity Course Zero to Expert. Clarian remains a seminal figure in the world of underground dance music with timeless productions released on labels like Visionquest, Kompakt, Counter, Turbo, Life And Death, and Rumors and a pioneer for his years of work as an engineer for both grammy and underground legends alike.
