Rare photos of Frankie Knuckles, Fatboy Slim, Orbital, Underworld, Goldie and a host of rock, pop and hip hop artists are set to be featured in a new book by Soulla Petrou, entitled Rewind – Journey Of A Music Photographer.
The book, which features images from the first 15 years of Petrou’s near three-decade career, includes photos originally featured in publications such as Mixmag, DJ Magazine, The Face and The Times, and includes an introduction from rock and pop critic Alexis Petridis.
A kickstarter for Rewind has launched for pre orders, running to November 30th – more information can be found here.

“Editing the images prompted me to ‘rewind’ the memories of those photographic shoots, reviving the positive vibes and generating a feelgood factor that kept me sane during the pandemic,” Petrou explains.
Along with house legend Knuckles, the book also features a number of legends that are no longer with us, including Paul ‘Trouble’ Anderson, Phil Asher and French producer Phillipe Zdar.
While completing the book, Petrou learned of the death of her friend (and former Mixmag editor) Dom Philips in the Amazon, which has prompted her to donate 20% of the proceeds from the sale of the book to Univaja, “the organisation set up to help the indigenous people of the Javari Valley, the cause Dom championed,” she added.
